In-app path: Sidebar → AI Agents → Deploy
Requires: workflow:manage to change deployment.
Two Ways an Agent Reaches Customers
Simple deploy
Let the agent answer customer questions directly, with no workflow involved. One switch.
From a workflow
A scripted flow runs first and hands the conversation to the agent at a chosen step.
Simple Deploy
The Deploy panel's main control reads "Let <agent name> answer customer questions". Turn it on and the agent starts replying to conversations that no workflow has claimed. The badge beside it shows Live or Off.
This puts the agent in front of real customers. Test it first in the agent's Test pane, and confirm its per-conversation limits are set where you want them.
Channels
Choose where the agent replies:
| Channel | What it covers | Extra setup |
|---|---|---|
| Messenger | The in-app messenger and widget | None — on by default |
| Your connected support inbox | Needs an email channel connected in Support settings |
Email replies need an email inbox connected first. If the option looks inert, set the inbox up under Settings → Support → Channels and come back — see Email Channel.
The default, if you never touch the channel settings, is Messenger only, email off.
Workflows Using the Agent
The Deploy panel also lists every workflow that routes to the AI agent, each marked Live or Draft. From there you can jump to Manage workflows or Create a workflow.
If the list is empty it says so — that just means no workflow hands off to the agent, not that anything is wrong. With simple deploy on, the agent still answers.
Handoff to a Human
The agent hands a conversation to a person when:
- It hits the conversation's credit budget or reply limit
- A workflow reaches a Human handoff step
- It cannot answer from the content it has
Handed-off conversations land in the Support inbox like any other.
