Notifications
Learn how the ProductBridge notification system keeps your team informed with real-time in-app notifications and email alerts for feedback activity, comments, and assignments.
Stay on Top of Everything
ProductBridge provides a real-time notification inbox for both admin users and public (end) users. Notifications are generated automatically when actions occur across the platform — new posts, comments, assignment changes, roadmap status updates, and vote milestones — so you never miss what matters.
Notification Inbox
The notification inbox is organized into three tabs, each showing a specific category of activity:
Posts
New feedback posts, roadmap links, status changes, and vote milestones.
Comments
Comments on your posts and replies to your comments.
Assignments
Posts assigned or unassigned to you (admin only).
Each tab displays an unread badge count so you can see at a glance which categories need your attention.
Notification Categories
Posts Notifications
Post notifications keep you informed about activity on feedback items across your project:
| Event | When It Fires |
|---|---|
| New feedback post | A new feedback post is created in your project |
| Feedback linked to roadmap | A feedback post is linked to a roadmap item |
| Roadmap status changed | A roadmap item's status is updated (e.g., Planned → In Progress) |
| Vote milestone | A feedback post reaches 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, or 1,000 votes |
Vote milestone notifications help you spot trending feedback early. When a post hits a milestone, it is a signal that users care deeply about that request.
Comments Notifications
Comment notifications fire when someone engages with your content:
| Event | When It Fires |
|---|---|
| Comment on post | Someone comments on a post you created or are following |
| Comment reply | Someone replies to a comment you left |
Assignments Notifications
Assignment notifications are available for admin users only:
| Event | When It Fires |
|---|---|
| Post assigned | A feedback post is assigned to you by an admin |
| Post unassigned | You are unassigned from a feedback post |
When a post is assigned to a team member, they also receive an email notification with the post details and a direct link — so they can take action even when they are not in the app.
Email Notifications
In addition to in-app notifications, ProductBridge sends email alerts for critical events:
- Assignment emails — When an admin assigns a feedback post to a team member, the assignee receives an email with the post title, description, board, and a direct link to the post. This ensures team members are aware of new assignments immediately, even if they are not actively using ProductBridge.
Email notification preferences can be managed in Account Settings > Notifications. Team members can choose which events trigger emails and which are in-app only.
Managing Notifications
Mark as Read
You can manage your notification state in several ways:
Mark individual notifications
Click on any notification to mark it as read. The unread badge count updates automatically.
Mark all as read
Click Mark All as Read at the top of any tab to clear all unread notifications in that category. You can also mark all notifications across all categories at once.
Filtering
Use the inbox tabs and filters to focus on what matters:
- Tab filtering — Switch between Posts, Comments, and Assignments tabs to see only that category
- Read state — Filter by unread only to see notifications that need your attention
- All notifications — View everything in a single chronological feed
Notification Details
Each notification includes:
- Title — A human-readable summary of what happened (e.g., "John commented on your post")
- Body — A preview of the content (e.g., the first line of a comment)
- Actor — The user who triggered the action, with their name and avatar
- Timestamp — When the event occurred
- Link — Click through to the relevant feedback post, comment, or roadmap item
Admin vs. Public User Notifications
Admin users receive all notification types, including assignment notifications. Admins can also delete notifications from their inbox to keep it clean.
Public (end) users receive notifications for posts and comments relevant to their activity — such as comments on feedback they submitted or status updates on posts they voted for. Assignment notifications and delete functionality are not available to public users.
